Rangers

To start off, and to say the least I have been quite busy in regard to paying attention to the Blog. so first I must Apologize! I also want to thank Guild Wars(Anet's) Twitter page for advertising this! :D

Today's focus is the Ranger! The Ranger is the master of bows and living in the wild! With their trusty pet by their side the rangers can survive almost anything!!!!

Basics you should know about the Ranger: They have 70 Max AL, and +30(extra) armor against elemental armor(Fire, earth, air, water, cold, dark) They run 4 major skill types: Wilderness Survival, Expertise, Marksmanship, and Beast Mastery. Depending on what type of ranger you run(Bow, beast master, Dagger, scythe, spear) You'll want to invest in Expertise. Expertise is the main line of att points for Rangers and it causes attack skills to cost less energy, thus making it very popular for Spamming ranger attacks, running daggers(assassin 2ndary), running scythes(Dervish 2ndar) or even a spear!(Paragon 2ndary). Marksmanship, if you can't already tell by the name, is for you bow. Every point in it makes your bow attacks more effective. Simple simple.:3 Investing points in Wilderness Survival provides the essentials for surviving as a ranger. It provides healing and stances to aid you. Wilderness Survival also provides traps which can be deadly and used to farm. Now finally, Beast Mastery increases the damage dealt by your pet, both base damage as well as skill damage.

Bow types.
There is four different types of Bows in Guild Wars, each one does a different damage/goes fasters and slower/ shoots longer/ arcs higher.(note: all bows do 15-28 BASE damage)
Long Bow: attack speed is 2.4 Seconds, It's range is just outside of your Aggro Bubble, Arc is medium, and its a good compromise between all the bows. (This is my personal favorite)
Flat Bow: attack speed is 2.0 seconds, It's range is same as long bow, The arc is high(meaning it can miss a lot)
Horn bow: Attack speed is 2.7 seconds, It's range is smaller than the above, arc is medium.(This bow has a 10% armor penetration)
Recurve Bow: Attack speed is 2.4 seconds, It's range is the same as the horn bow, arc is low(hits almost all the time)(provides the FASTEST arrows)
Short Bow: Attack speed is 2.0 seconds, its range is extremely short, medium arc, and provides the most arrows per minute(apm :3)[Note- Elevations provide more damage]

Rangers are pretty much good at both PvE and PvP. They run Barrage or Broad Head Arrow in PvE, and complete Degen. rangers in PvP. But you can with Expertise run daggers ect. So rangers are one of the better classes to get into.

My personal opinion of rangers is that its challenging to get into one, but once you master it you've got the way of the ranger!!!! That's just speaking of my history. I started out making rangers from the beginning and couldn't do it. Nor could I get one past level 11. Rangers are one of the most complicated classes to start with as warriors are pretty much the easiest.

Warriors!

Today's first profession is the Warrior! A little background information about me with using the warrior. My 2nd "real" character after I started Guild Wars way back in the day was a warrior named, "The Brave Lil Tostr". I did many-a-things with him. Including starting Factions when I got it.

Now the warrior is the master of melee, the original tanking class in Guild Wars, first made known when the land of Tyria was in trouble! They have great DPS*1 and a high AL*2. They are capable of taking mass amounts of damage and dealing out a good amount. With certain skills, these tanking warriors can reduce damage down to a minimum and make your party succeed to a maximum!

Mmm, okay, did you like my little fun with the warriors? I really loved mine. Now Warriors use three different weapons: Sword (1.33 seconds); axe(1.33seconds) and Hammer(1.75seconds). Swords and axes are most common for PvE*3 due to the ability to have a shield and the massive DPS*1 they put out. Swords do 15-22 Damage giving a great constant lower damage, as well as sword skills provide many-a-conditions they can give such as: Bleeding and deep-wound(combine that with some other stuff XD). Axes give a 6-28 Damage range, which, yes, gives them more damage capability but there is a chance that they will do lesser damage resulting in less DPS*1. Hammers are most used in PvP*4. They have a slower attack rate and gives you lesser armor(such as no shield being equipped). Hammers provide: Knock downs as well as weakness. The Warriors have five attribute selections: Strength, Swordsmanship, Axe Master, Hammer Master, and Tatics. Strength gives armor penetration 1% for each rank in Strength you have. Swordsmanship makes your sword and sword attacks do more damage. Axe master does the same for swords just for axes, as well as hammer does the same as well, just for hammers. Tatics increases your defensive skills, and blocking.

Now, I think warriors are a great part of PvE*3 as well as PvP*4. Due to the different roles they can play they can be very useful in elite missions as well as PvP*4 maps such as Fort Aspenwood or Random Arenas. For certain cases, you don't want a warrior, such as: You can't use melee due to the AI's*5 skills, or in Jade Quarry, or Alliance Battles, Warriors aren't really good in those areas!

As for if Warriors suck, or not. I'd say they don't but in recent cases where warriors are being replaced by Shadow Form Assassins, or Obsidian Flesh Elementalists, they aren't needed as much anymore. Which is the sad part of the Guild Wars world. After the upcoming nerf*6 to Shadow form and 600/smite*7 warriors will be popular again!

*1 - DPS = Damage per second
*2 - AL = Armor Level
*3 - PvE = Player verses Environment.
*4 - PvP = Player Verses Player
*5 - AI = Artificial Intelligence
*6 - Nerf = changing a skill to a less powered state
*7 - 600/smite = A type of dual monk farming that is overpowered(in my opinion)

The Deep

What do you know about The Deep? Do you think it's easy or hard? Do you know any tatics about it or any skill types to or skill sets do you use? Well this Saturday, the 20th the Norn Alliance (I'm not hosting this one!... Well I pretty much am lol!)is doing the deep on an attempt to kill the demon assassin! Lol(how do you spell his name?!) But I've never done it! I'm going to be running my paragon (If I can get him there)[Paragons are epic ftw, and by far the coolest profession ever in Guild Wars.] A lot of people don't like the Paragon because people only think they're good at "Imbagon" or full support. But with the buid I use on my paragon, I can give bleeding, cover it with cripple, cover it with burning(if there is a summoned creature that I hit the attack with) then deep wound(Hopefully they're standing still!) Or if you wanna pwn a caster in PvP use Stunning Spear to give dazed condition. And really everyone thinks that "FGJ!" is bad in pvp - Gives one strike of adren... plus 1 for every hit. So, you hit, you get two. two hits 4. Its the same is it not? Let me know what you think about PvE skills to their PvP versions. One of the ones I really don't like is SoS! Haha, its the old version of what SoS used to be before Anet decided to buff Ritualists and make them the MOST played profession over everything else, including SF assassins and 55monks/600monks. Lame. I had a ritualist BEFORE the buff, and I enjoyed it. :D

Got a working headset!

Well after many struggles I found a working headset(not usb based.. I know right?) Anyways it works and speaks clearly and I can use it for Vent for Guild Wars events. I'm so glad it works, I mean think about it... Not being able to use your headset(or a headset) and not being able to talk to your besties(that's right... I said it) on vent from Guild Wars?>!? It's pretty insane. You get lonely after a few minutes(Hahaha) and you start to wonder... "Since they haven't heard from me... did they kick em from the alliance!! O.o!!!! Crazy man... CRAZY" Then shortly after that, you fix it(or get a new one) and go OMGOSH I can talk/hear you guys again.... Whats up? Just one of those "lol" moments eh? I would've gotten annoyed not being able to hear the beautiful music of Guild Wars. I love that music :P! (It makes me happy inside)

New Lore for Gw2?

Well, other than the fact that its 250 years in the future(250... now that number is familiar? :P) Where did these dragons come from? Why are they here? Will they all be evil? Will they only fight the good people(and creatures) of Tyria? (Due to Cantha and Elona aren't yet in the Lore of GW2 besides the fact that they cannot get access to the others!)I certainly hope not! I would think that they would have these bickering between each other and even though Primordus, being the first to awaken , to be the leader. Now the biggest question of all you are probably wondering... What will happen with the stuff you put in your Hall of Monuments?!?!?!?!!? I have no idea! And anet won't let on... Sadly. So quick while you still have time, choose a main character (I need to do this! O.o)and get GWAMM!!! AND FILL IT UP!
